This small application is all you need to allow me to provide secure, encrypted remote support, whether you're across the street or across the continent!

Even if you do not plan to hire me right now, I encourage you to download this free application. In addition to providing secure screen sharing upon your request, it includes over 200 tools you can use to optimize and customize your Mac. If you've used utilities like OnyX, MacJanitor or TinkerTool, you'll love Mac HelpMate.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.3 or above and have a cable, DSL or other high speed connection, I can provide Macintosh troubleshooting and Macintosh tutoring over the internet!

Using software licensed from Mac HelpMate, I can establish a remote screen sharing session through a secure, encrypted connection that is totally controlled by you. While I am connected to your computer, I am in contact with you by telephone.

  • Cost Effective -- I would much rather spend my time helping you with your computer than driving around in my car! Therefore, I offer all of my clients:

    • 10% discount off of on-site hourly rates for remote support
    • minimum call time of 1/2 hour, as opposed to 1 hour for on-site support
    • monthly memberships at a significantly reduced rate
    • Remote support also means no travel charges and faster response time.
    • Long distance telephone calls are included in my fees.
    • Available anywhere in North America, (no matter how far out in the boonies you are!) as long as you have a high speed or broadband internet connection

  • Effective & Efficient -- While I do provide on-site technical support in the Olympia, Washington area, in my experience on 95% of Mac OS X technical support issues can be solved without me physically being in front of the computer. Many of my clients actually find remote support to be more efficient, particularly when I am providing instruction, because they have full access to the computer and are focused on the screen instead of me.

  • Zero Configuration (Even through firewalls and routers!). Download the small Mac HelpMate application, double-click on the installer, and we are ready to go. It really is that simple!

  • FREE Client Software - Unlike per user screen sharing software like Timbuktu or (or PC Anywhere for Windows), Mac HelpMate is totally free for all of my clients. In fact, since Mac HelpMate also includes a tooklit of over 200 useful tools to help optimize your Mac, I encourage you to download a copy today, even if you don't have immediate need for my services. All I ask is that you keep me in mind the next time you're stumped with a Mac problem.

  • Extremely Safe and Secure -- Mac HelpMate's remote screen sharing technology uses a number of safety features to ensure the security of my clients:
    • Screen sharing can only be initiated by the customer.
    • The customer has the ability to see everything that is happening on their computer, and always has the ability to control their mouse and keyboard and/or disconnect me from their computer.
    • The remote connection is made using a one-time use authorization code. As soon as the customer disconnects, I cannot reconnect without a new code initiated by the customer.
    • The connection takes place using a secure "SSH Tunnel" using "Blowfish" encryption technology...in English, this means our remote connection uses even more secure technology than financial institutions use to transfer information.


SIMPLE Setup Instructions
1. Download the Mac HelpMate Client.
When the download has completed, you'll see a file called "machelpmatev2.5.zip" that looks like the image to the right.

Unless you have changed the default location for downloads, you will find the file on your Desktop.

2. Double-Click on Mac HelpMate
The ZIP file you downloaded should automatically decompress from to reveal the Mac HelpMate application that looks like the one to the right. If not, double-click on the "machelpmatev2.2.zip" file to decompress it manually.
